How do you judge the sound quality of party speakers when buying them?

2025-04-16

When buying party speakers, judging its sound quality can start from the following aspects:

1. Frequency Response: Check the frequency response range of your speaker. The wider frequency response means better detail in the treble and bass. In general, a frequency response range of 20Hz - 20kHz is considered ideal. For example, if a speaker clearly expresses the deep impact of a heavy drum in the low frequencies and the crisp sound of a bell in the high frequencies, then it performs better in terms of frequency response.

2. Clarity and Detail:

Play some tracks with complex musical elements, such as symphonic or rock pieces, and listen carefully for the various instruments and sounds to be legible, and for blurring or confusion. For example, in a song with an ensemble of multiple instruments, the sound of each instrument can be clearly distinguished, such as the strings of the guitar, the melodiousness of the violin, etc.

3. Bass performance:

Feel the depth and dynamics of the bass. A good bass should be deep, punchy, and not muddy. It can be tested by playing some music with a strong bass rhythm, such as electronic dance music or hip-hop music. For example, when an electronic dance song is played, a strong rhythmic impact is noticeable, but there is no buzzing or distortion.

4. Midrange fullness:

The alto is the main part of most music, such as the vocals. Pay attention to whether the vocals are natural, full, and warm during the test. For example, when playing a pop song, the singer's voice should be clear and real, without feeling hollow or shriveled.

5. Soundstage & Positioning:

Try to play some music with a sense of space to determine whether the sound can create a good soundstage, i.e., whether the directional and spatial positioning of the sound is accurate. For example, when playing a piece of music with alternating left and right channels, the sound is clearly coming from different directions.

6. Distortion:

Turn up the volume and pay attention to whether there is any distortion, such as broken sound, noise, etc. If you can still maintain a clear, distortion-free sound at high volumes, it means that the quality of the sound is better.

7. Live Audition:

If possible, try to do a live audition in a physical store to get a feel for the sound quality of the sound at different volumes and music genres. This is a straightforward and valid way to judge.
